GOWAN "DAISY" MCKAY 1919 - 2010
Daisy McKay passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the Herb Bassett Home in Prince Albert at the age of 91 years. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Reverend Nora Vedress will officiate. Gowan "Daisy" Frances McKay was born to Clemantine Clarke and James Dunbar on March 29, 1919 in Saskatoon. At the age of 15 months, she became the chosen daughter of Isabella and William Dunbar. On October 21, 1936 she married Fredrick Douglas McKay. Daisy is survived by her children Isabelle Harris (Kathy, Chris, Brett, Renee Soulier); Fred McKay (Charlene, Jeff, Kimberly, Kristen, Kaitlin Sheirer; Rodney, Kyle, Nicole, TJ; Sandra Enns, Ryan, Alexandra); Jean (Doug) Hewitt (Kelly, Suzanne, Lindsay; Shannon, Dewell, Dee, Shea Meyers); Norman (Darlene) McKay (Noreen, Josh, Ashley, Keegan McBride; Blayne; Beverly, Rob Ferland; Deborah; Patrick; Terry); Linda (Bruce) McKinnon (Jason, Shenna; Tyler, Dawn, Rowan, Liam; Ryan; Jennifer, Dan, Curtis, Chloe Deck); Shirley (Ian) Otterbein (Helen); her half sister Rita Cozens; her brother-in-law Robert (Patti) Syrette and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Douglas; her son Jim; her grandson Wayne Harris; her sisters-in-law Violet Belanger, Lily Bell, Betty Syrette, Gertie Dunbar; her brother Dan Dunbar; her brother-in-law Roland McKay and her half brother Lorne Bishop. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery. It is the family's request that donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
