DELBERT HAMILTON

Date de décès : 19 avril 2010

Eldest Child of Hillyard & Mildred (Colburn) Hamilton passed away reluctantly at 5 am April 19, 2010. At home until the last two weeks, Del was surrounded by the presence, love and hopes of his wife Rose; to be joined the last few days by son Gary, daughter Janet Given, both of Vancouver, and stepson Jeff of Edmonton. Born in Melfort, Del grew up in Star City. He attended Saskatoon Technical School briefly, just prior to enlisting in the RCAF in 1939. Following overseas duty- where he served as airforce mechanic during the Battle of Britain, and later trained as rear gunner- he returned to Saskatchewan in 1945, and joined the Provincial Department of Social Services in Regina where he held numerous positions for 41 years, retiring in 1984 from Valley View Center, Moose Jaw, as Director of Administration.

Del was a loyal Legion member, loved nature, the outdoors. He respected and enjoyed people from all avenues of life, had fantastic rhythm and loved music and dance. His disarming smile and hugely varied interests and charm will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Rose (Cramer), his son Ross (Sandra), daughter Janet (Bob) Given, son Gary, stepsons Keith (Donna) & Jeff Bertram, grandchildren Cassie & Joe Given, Tavia, Darby & Brian, step-grandsons Clayton & Colburn, great- grandchildren Haley & Hannah, his sisters Rhoda Charmbury of Cardston, Ab, Marlene Kyle of Prince Albert, sister in law Helen Hamilton and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Gwen Stephenson, his brother Eldon, stepson Craig Bertram, brothers-in-law Bob Charmbury and Murray Kyle, and in-laws Paul & Mary Cramer.
Funeral Services at Speer's Funeral Chapel, Regina at 1:30 pm on April 28, 2010.
