It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Selena 'Lena' Mary Poulin on April 21, 2010 at the QE2, Victoria General Hospital, Halifax.
Born in Glace Bay on September 13, 1951, Lena was the daughter of Clara (Bennett) O'Handley, Dominion and the late John O'Handley.
She is survived by her husband, Guy Roger Poulin; daughter, Kristin, and granddaughter, Talyor Poulin, Mineville, Nova Scotia; son, Karl, daughter-in-law, Mary Pat; grandsons, Matthew and Cameron Poulin, currently residing in Shanghai, China; mother, Clara O'Handley, Dominion; sisters, Beverley (Neil), Campbell River, B.C., Elaine (Mal), Boston, Mass., Helen, Bridgeport, Cathy (Ron), Dominion, Rita (Lorne), Bridgeport, Clara (Keith), Glace Bay; brothers, Henry (Carolyn), Oliver, B.C., and Cal and family, of Airdrie, Alberta; sister-in-law, Bubby ,Glace Bay; numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of her family. She is also survived by her mother-in-law; sister and brothers in-law of Montebello, Quebec.
Her father, John Malcolm O'Handley, and brothers Jack, Tom and Allie predeceased her.
Lena was a devoted wife, loving mother to her children and grandchildren and a caring sister to her brothers and sisters. Selena was a compassionate, courageous and ever-so thoughtful person, always willing to care for other people when they were in need. Her liveliness and wonderful sense of humor were a source of strength for those around her.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will take place on Monday, April 26th at 11a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, with burial in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Immaculate Conception church hall.
