The death of Ernest Ward, age 74, of Sackville, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Thursday, April 22, 2010. Born in Sackville, NB, he was a son of the late George and Melissa (Amos) Ward. Ernie worked 38 years at the Tribune Press, enjoyed playing Santa Claus and would visit the local malls, schools and hospitals brightening the lives of countless children through the years. He loved to hunt and fish. Ernie will be sadly missed by five sons, Dale (Sharon) Ward of British Settlement, Michael of Vancouver, Vincent (Debbie) of Barrie, Simon of Dartmouth, Joseph Marko of Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Wayne (Jennifer) of Sussex, Terri (Lewis) Smith of Sackville, David (Kourtney) of Saint John, Michelle Martin of Edmonton; five great grandchildren, Hunter, Christopher, Tristian, Kyla and Bailey; three brothers, Roland (Sandra) of Oshawa, Richard (Debbie) of British Settlement, Curtis (Barbara) of Sackville; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by mother and father; one daughter, Jo-Anne; one grandson, Stephen; three brothers, Keith, Tommy, and Robert.
Ernie's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, from where a funeral service will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 1:30pm. Burial in the Westcock Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the Jones Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
