It is with great sadness that we the family of Joseph 'Joe' Leslie Brinston, announce his sudden passing at home on Friday April 23, 2010.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of James Leslie and the late Theresa (Treige) Brinston.
In Joe's earlier years, he worked at numerous jobs in our local area until he obtained his industrial electrician license. He then took employment at the Sydney Drydocks for a couple of years, then moving to Halifax where he worked at the Halifax Shipyard for many years until his early retirement, which enabled Joe and his family to return home to Glace Bay.
In earlier times Joe was an avid dart player. He also enjoyed taking long scenic drives with his wife, spending time on his computer, battling his son on the X-Box as well as sitting on his deck with his wife and pets. He enjoyed sports especially hockey, and he loved those 'Habs'.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Juanita (MacNeil); son, Joseph 'Jœy'; father, James Leslie, all of Glace Bay; sisters, Theresa Burke (Bob White) Mira Gut, Darlene (Michael) King Glace Bay; brother, Leslie (Sherry) Ontario, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In honoring Joe's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating.
