"Peg" died peacefully on April 17th, 2010 surrounded by her family. Born on November 28th, 1917 in Campbell River.

Mourned by her loving husband of 32 years Philip R. Watson; her children Patricia (Ron) Woo, Janet (Jake) Surline, Michael (Andrea) McComb; grandchildren Stanley, Carmen, Oliver, Tiffany, Geordie, Kala, Kimberly & Christine; and three great-grandchildren. Step-children Richard (Louise) Watson, Bill (Nancy) Watson; step-grandchildren Bryce, Selena, Shanelle, Brandy, Ian and Neil; and seven step great-grandchildren; two sisters in England Mavis Lloyd-Evans and Rowena Whipple and their families.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon Stanley McComb in 1962, her sister Valerie Whipple in 1971 and her step-daughter Ellen Good in 1979.

Peg was a proud graduate of PMH at Essondale Psychiatric Hospital and part graduate of Royal Inland Hospital (leaving in 1945 when student nurses had to remain single). In her 50's while an 'A' Botany student at UBC she contributed bog specimens to UBC's Herbarium. She was an active community volunteer with the United Church as Sunday School teacher, Explorer leader & camp leader, Hospice, Meals on Wheels and Rebekah's. Peg & Phil enjoyed the Natural History Society of B.C., Cowichan Valley Rockhounds, Son's of Scotland, Jonanco, square dancing and world wide travels to natural history sites such as China, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, also BC, Nunavut and Newfoundland. She climbed the Chilkoot Trail at age 59. Throughout her life she remained an active Environmentalist, a proud New Democrat and a proud Canadian.

Mom treasured her memories of her home at Tranquille from 1953 to 1963.

She was a continuous learner and well read.

A Celebration of Peg's Life will be held on Saturday, May 1st, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chemainus United Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Chemainus United Church, 9814 Willow Street, Chemainus, BC, V0R 1K0 for summer camp for youth in need, would be appreciated.
