With heavy hearts we, the family of Rogene Elizabeth (Jobes) McGean wish to announce her passing on Sunday, April 25, 2010, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Florence, Rogene was the daughter of Emma Jobes and the late Alphonse Jobes and the late Daddy Elmer Devoe.
She graduated from the Halifax Infirmary in 1975 and worked most of her career at the Northside General Hospital, retiring in 2007. Her many patients will remember well her extraordinary dedication, compassion and professional manner.
In her younger years, Rogene liked to travel, bowl and play darts. In recent years she camped at Englishtown Ridge with her husband and daughter where she was liked and adored by many fellow campers.
Rogene is survived by her mother, Emma; her husband, Glen; her daughter and joy of her life, Natasha; her stepson, Glenn Robert (Natalie) and her grandson, Hudson. Also surviving are her brother, Elmer 'Brother' (Maureen) Devoe; her sisters, Mary Penny, Rosalie Bragg, Irene (Robert) Bradley; and her close friends, Celeste MacDougall, Peggy Butts; and her cousin, Marie Young.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Winnifred and Brenda MacLellan and her brother, Melvin Devoe.
Visitation today (Tuesday), 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen's Church, Florence, with Fr. Thomas John officiating.
