Suddenly and unexpectedly at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 24, 2010, Mrs. Barbara Marie (Burton) Mallard of Listowel, in her 71st year. Dear wife of David Mallard. Most beloved mother of Damian and Karen Mallard of Guelph, and Pauline and Chuck Binning of Listowel. Cherished nana of Jake and Curtis Mallard, and Brett, Mary, and Luke Binning. Sister of Pauline Sherren of Mount Pearl, Nfld., Nancy Burton and Katie Pomeroy, both of Cambridge, as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Jack and Elizabeth (Furlong) Burton, and her sister Mary Luther. Barbara was born June 20, 1939 in St. John's, Newfoundland and grew up on Carter's Hill. She attended Presentation Convent. Barbara was a 50 year member of the Catholic Women's League of Canada and from 2006-2008 she was the Chair of Legislation for the London Diocesan Council, and 2008-2010 she was Chair of Christian Family Life. She was a volunteer for the Senior Healthy Lifestyles, VON North Perth. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Listowel on Wednesday, April 28th at 11 a.m. Father Paul Nicholson officiating.
