Jean Keith Demings
1916-2010
SPRINGHILL - Jean Keith Demings, age 94, of Springhill, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on Friday, April 23, 2010. She was a daughter of the late Frederick and Uenna (Keith) Nelson.

Jean was a life long member of the United Church of Canada, the UCW, and the Springhill Hospital Auxiliary. She was instrumental in the founding of the Marion MacLeod Head Start Preschool Program in Springhill, of which she was the first teacher. Jean enjoyed music, reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing, ceramics, quilting, and spending time at her favourite place, Pugwash Point. She was a loving and caring mother who enjoyed her family.

Jean is survived by her husband of 70 years, Carl O. Demings, two sons, Alan Keith (Lavona)Demings, Jeremy Carl (Carolyn) Demings; one daughter, Marjorie Jeane Demings (Maynard) Rector; five grandchildren, Keith, Karla, Mairi, Andrew and Jeff; seven great grandchildren; brother, Arthur K. Nelson; sister, Rhoda Lauzon, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers, Lester, Kenneth, and Vernon.

Arrangements have been entrusted to AH Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill (597 - 2361), from where a memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, Ruth Gamble and Rev. Maynard Rector officiating. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Jean may do so to the St. Andrew's-Wesley United Church, The All Saints Hospital Auxiliary or the Marion MacLeod Head Start Program
