Matheson, M. Thelma (nee Gunn) - Margaret Thelma Matheson, 90 years, died April 23, 2010 in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in Earltown, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Gunn and Arabelle (Taylor) Gunn. Thelma was a school teacher for eight years, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated member of Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche and lifelong member of the UCW, Barrachois Chapter. Surviving are sons, Keith (Carol) Halifax: Paul (Karen), Gander, NL; daughter, Helen (Mike) Veno, Tatamagouche; daughter-in-law, Ilma Matheson, Florida; Sister-in-law, Jean Gunn, Truro; brother-in-law, Ray Matheson, Tatamagouche; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Boyd; son, John; brothers, Murray and John; sisters, Marion McKay, Elizabeth Sutherland, Muriel Forbes and Annie Gunn. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 28 in Coulter's Funeral Home (657-3288) 48 Riverside Dr., Tatamagouche. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, April 29 in Sharon United Church, Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Reception to follow the service in the Church basement. Interment will be in Earltown Community Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society Nova Scotia Chapter, North Shore Health Services Foundation or Sharon United Church. The family would like to extend a Thank You to Dr. Moss, nurses and other staff at Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital for the compassion and loving care provided to Thelma during her hospital stay.
