We, the family of Rodina Moore regret to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Rodina passed away April 26, 2010, peacefully in her home at the age of 86.
Rodina was the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (MacKinnon) MacKeigan. She graduated from the New Waterford Hospital in 1944. She worked at the Hamilton Hospital in North Sydney and Harbour View in Sydney Mines. She married Sidney R. 'Darby' Moore and togethre they raised seven children.
Rodina is survived by five daughters, Rosemary (Lewis) King, Sharon MacKenzie, Maureen, Elva MacKinnon, Colleen, with whom she resided; two sons, Robert 'Darby' and Kevin (Marie). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Trevor King, Chris MacKenzie, Shannon Hennessey, Charles and Aaron MacKinnon, Roberta, Dylan and Danielle Moore, Jillian and Alaura Moore and Natasha MacQueen; five great-grandchildren, Tyson and Tiffany King, Brock and Josh Lomax and Kendra Jessome. Rodina also leaves to mourn her sister, Florence Landolphi; her brother, Martin (Jessie) MacKeigan; her sister-in-law, Mary MacKeigan and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney R. 'Darby' Moore, brother, Albert MacKeigan, sister, Teresa Holic, son-in-law, Joseph MacKinnon, brothers-in-law, Quincy Landolphi and Daniel Holic.
Visitation Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mins. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday at 1 p.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Rodina's memory may be made to Palliative Care, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
