Doris Isabel Melvin, 85, of Cornhill, passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home in Sussex on April 26, 2010. Born in Stanford-le-Hope, England, she was a daughter of the late Frederick & L. (Cardno) Salmon. Doris was the widow of the late Stanford Melvin who passed away in 1984. She is survived by her daughters: Evelyn Gregg (Hayward Critchley), and Stella Corey (Faren); her sons: John Melvin (Sharlet), Brian Melvin (Shirley), Daryl Melvin (Janice), Stanford Melvin (Pam), and Gordon Melvin (Heather Beal); her grandchildren: Glen Melvin (Kelly Tubman), Carrie Hall (Ken), Jason Melvin, Gordon Melvin, Brian Melvin Jr., Adam Melvin (Jessica), Tanya Melvin (Adam McKiel), Stephenie Hutt (Tim), Josh Gregg (Tara Leet), Shannon Roy (Alex), Glen Corey (Natalie), Jesse Melvin and Abby Melvin; and by seven great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. Doris was a former member of the Women's Institute.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Paul Beaman presiding, all in Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac. Interment will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Cornhill. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society, the Kiwanis Nursing Home, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
