It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father, Kenneth Roy McAllister of Fredericton, which occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 27th, 2010. He was 84. Born March 7, 1926 in Chipman, N.B., he was the son of the late Blair Roy and Sarah Jane (Bishop) McAllister. Kenneth was a Stationary Engineer with the Provincial Government and was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church. A Veteran of WWII, he served with the Carleton York Regiment. He was an Honorary Lifetime Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 15, Marysville and was also a member of the Overseas Veteran's Club.
Kenneth is survived by two daughters, Jean Hills (Don) of Orillia, Ontario and Irene Jewett (Frank) of Noonan; two sons, David McAllister (Norma) of Napanee, Ontario and Daniel McAllister (Claudette) of Fredericton; four grandchildren, Angela Johnson, Andrea Long (David), Michael McAllister (Veronique) and Joshua Jewett; three great grandchildren, Henry Long, Emily Long and Kennedy Evangeline McAllister; five brothers, Donald and Robert both of Chipman, Reginald (Irene) of Tracy, Jack (Yvonne) of Jacquet River and Russell of Coal Creek; three sisters, Marie Porter (Bill) of Fredericton, Shirley Doherty (Cary) of Chipman and Betty King (Jimmy) of Chipman; numerous nieces and nephews. Kenneth is also survived by his special friend, Jenny Berman of Holland.
He is predeceased by his parents; his wife Yvonne Mary (Arsenault) McAllister; two brothers, Albert and Basil; also three sisters, Leona, Frances and Muriel.
Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, 603 Union St., Fredericton on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 3:00 PM with Father Monte Peters as Celebrant. Interment will be held at a later date. The family have suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to the Veteran's Health Unit, Fredericton or the Canadian Red Cross (NB Division).
