It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Harold "Mac" Bruce Joseph McKinnon loving husband to Wilma (Garnett) McKinnon, which occurred on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1958 in Kentville, NS he was the son of the late Harold M. McKinnon Sr. and Lillian (Duguay) Starkey. Harold worked with the Canadian Armed Forces with the Signal Corp from the spring of 1978 until the fall of 1986; he was honorably discharged from the Canadian Forces Regular Component in 1986. In later years Harold graduated from the NBCC Welding program and was a welder by trade. Harold was jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with family and friends. Besides his devoted wife Wilma, Harold is survived by one sister Catherine Mason (Samuel) of Saint John; two nephews Chris Chissolm and Jody McKinnon; step-parents Shirley McKinnon and Albert Starkey; several great nephews; several step brothers, step sisters, sisters and brothers-in-law and many friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by one brother David McKinnon and a brother-in-law Danny Chaisson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. Saint John (646-2424). A memorial service will be held on Monday May 3, 2010 at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m. A Legion Tribute will begin the service. Interment to follow at Upper Golden Grove Cemetery. Donations in Harold's memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Saint John Animal Rescue League or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
