James Sampson, 90 of 21 Pere Girroir Ave., Cheticamp, died April 26, 2010 at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre, Cheticamp.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Deveau) Sampson. James was a veteran of the Second World War and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #32, Cheticamp.
He is survived by one sister, May Theresa George, Bridgewater; one brother, Andrew Sampson, Spryfield; three stepdaughters, Sophie Anne Aucoin, Marie Elizabeth Poirier and Marie Jeanne Bourgeois, all of Cheticamp; three stepsons, Willie Joe Bourgeois, Halifax, Joseph Cyril Bourgeois and Claudie Bourgeois, both of Cheticamp; several stepgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Louise Bourgeois; two stepsons, Henry Bourgeois and Pierre Joseph Bourgeois; two stepdaughters, Alice Power and Marie Therese Catudal and by two sisters, Mary Josephine and Marguerite Elizabeth.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held today (Friday) at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Church, Cheticamp, Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
