Smith, Lauretta Anne "Reta", 81, of Truro and formerly of Harmony, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by her family. Born in Carroll, Manitoba, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Lillian (Truscott) Weatherbee. She was a member of the U.C.W and a former Sunday School Teacher at Harmony Camden United Church. She was an active resident of Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro where she enjoyed attending their many functions. Reta was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her family.
She is survived by sons, George (Rosaleen), Belmont, Robert (Lorraine), Debert; grandson Jamie Smith; brothers, Howard (Mary), Londonderry, Arthur (Marlene), Harmony, Charles (Audrey), Bible Hill, Arnold (Catherine), Stewiacke; sisters, Carmeletta (Robert) Legere, Salmon River, Mrs. Shirley McCabe, Harmony, Joan (Roger) Langille, Harmony, Norma (Joe), Lambourne, Harmony, Linda (Edward) Niles, Bible Hill; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband George Robinson Smith.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 Friday in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11 am in Harmony/Camden McCulloch United Church, Harmony. Rev. Sue King-Darby will officiate with burial to follow in the Harmony Ridge Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial in the church hall. Donations in Reta's memory may be made to the Harmony/Camden McCulloch United Church or to the Recreation Department of Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro.
