1918-2010 - Arthur Roy Marshall, 92, of Alma passed away peacefully on April 29th, 2010 at the Moncton Hospital. Arthur was born in Gowland Mountain on March 2, 1918 the son of the late Blake and Willa (Harrison) Marshall. He was a member of the Alma Baptist Church. Art worked for T.P. Downey & Sons Ltd as a bulldozer operator for several years until his retirement. He was very active in his church and community. He was a volunteer fireman with the Alma Department, he enjoyed singing in the Silver Chords Choir and really enjoyed the maple woods, he owned his own operation for a while, he loved to talk about the maple syrup season. He will be deeply missed by his step-children, Marvena Welling (Don) of Moncton, Rod Butland (Margaret) of Shepody and Walter Butland (Eleanor) of Salisbury; step-grandchildren, Stewart, Charles and Mark; six step-great grandchildren and two step-great great grandchildren; his sister, Alma Steeves of Elgin; brothers, Harry Marshall (Judy) of Salisbury, Cecil Marshall of River Glade, Perley Marshall (Elsie) and Otto Marshall both of Elgin. He will also be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Lenora; sister, Edna; brothers, James and Guy. He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Sunday afternoon, May 2, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Alma Baptist Church on Monday, May 3rd, 2010 at 1:30pm with Pastor Paul Steeves officiating. Interment will be held in the Alma United Cemetery, Alma, N.B. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends at the Alma Activity Center for further sharing of memories and for refreshments. Donations to the Alma Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
