Edna Elizabeth Leslie, 91, of Rotary Drive, Sydney, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Wallace Bay, Cumberland Co., she was the daughter of the late Luther and Isabelle (Brown) McKim.
Edna attended the Victoria General School of Nursing, graduating in 1944. She began nursing at the Inverness Memorial Hospital, where she met her future husband, Dan, but worked most of her career in Sydney.
Surviving are her nieces, Janet (Alex) Jamieson, Wallace, N.S., Marilyn Euesden (Richard Ferguson), Port Elgin, Ont., Jean (Ken) Tibbetts, Malagash, N.S. and Karen (Tim) Iler, West Pugwash, N.S.; special niece, Helen Robertson (Leslie), Kettleby, Ont.; many grandnieces and grandnephews.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, Edna was predeceased by her husband, Dan in 1992; sister, Margaret McKim and brother, William McKim.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel today (Saturday) 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Sunday 1 p.m., with Rev. Stephen Mills officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
