Daphne Ionia Howell passed away peacefully at Seaview Manor on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. Daphne was born in Barbados, West Indies and immigrated to Canada with her children in the late 1940's. She was predeceased by her husband Linton Howell and is survived by her children Marcia Richens (Francis), Calvin Francis, Montreal, grandchildren Christopher Francis, Toronto, Dwayne and Carolynne, Montreal and four great grandchildren, Montreal. Daphne will be remembered for her feisty spirit, humor and of course enthusiasm for gardening. Appreciation is expressed to the staff of Seaview Manor and Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for the kindness, care and attention extended to Daphne during the past months. Visitation for Daphne Ionia Howell will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union Street, Glace Bay, Sunday, May 2, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday, May 3, 2010 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Funeral Service will be conducted at St. Mary's Anglican Church, 8 Marconi Street, Glace Bay, Monday, May 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at St. Mary's Parish Hall.
