Purdy: Leon Charles, 69, of Prince Street Truro, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in the Colchester Regional Hospital Truro, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Amherst, he was a son of Ella (Hardie) Purdy of Truro and the late William Charles Purdy. Leon owned and operated the East End Auto, Prince Street Truro for 42 years. He was an adherent of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, McClures Mills and a member of the Golden Age Auto Club. Besides his mother, Leon is survived by his wife the former Dorothy Nella Burton; sons, Derick (Karen), Truro; Dwight, Bible Hill; daughter, Lisa (Darrell) Tower, Truro; brothers, Wayne (Jean), Sackville, NS; Garth (Micker), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Darren, Justin, Mason, Devin, Averey; great-grandson, Ryley; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Thursday, May 7, and funeral service 2pm Friday, May 8, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, with Dr. Brian Ross officiating. A reception will then follow in the funeral home. Family flowers only. Donations in Leon’s memory may be made to the VON, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church or to a charity of your choice.
