Winnie Warren, 86 of Glace Bay passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Kathleen (Hind) Dawe.
Winnie was a long time member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 3, Glace Bay, and for many years she belonged to the Tuesday Night Club. Winnie spent many hours making quilts for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Ken) Tilley, Sydney, Doreen (Jack) Bellamy, Hampton, N.B., Diane (Gus) Kinlock, Thunder Bay, Ont.; sons, Beavon (Debbie), Fort McMurray, Fred (Patsy), Glace Bay and Eric (Kim Ripley), Fort McMurray. Also left to mourn are sisters, Evelyn Shand, Dartmouth, Florence 'Nook' Nash, Glace Bay; special friend, Linda MacDonald and special nephew, Robert Nauss, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Winnie was predeceased by her husband, Dorman; her twin sister, Margaret Nauss; sisters, Lillian Sullivan, Kathleen McEwan, Gladys Pool; brothers, James and Richard and also by her grandson, Mark Stewart.
Visitation for Winnie Warren will be held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay on Monday May 3, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Anglican Church, Marconi Street, Glace Bay, Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Haven Memorial Garden's, Grand Lake Road, Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Anglican Church or a charity of choice.
