Lieu de décès : SYDNEY, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

It is with great sadness we, the family of Daniel J. Walker, announce his passing on Friday, May 1, 2009.
Born on March 27, 1931 in George’s River, he was the son of the late John P. and Mary Ann (MacDougall) Walker.
A devout son, brother and uncle, he will be missed by family members and friends, especially missed, will be his delightful sense of humour.
He attended the local schools and St. Joseph’s High School in North Sydney. Daniel, as a young man, worked in western Canada. While there he travelled in all the western Canadian provinces and visited relatives in the western United States. In 1959, he returned to care for our parents. After their passing, he lived in Sydney, residing at 62 Charlotte St.
Daniel had many interests. He enjoyed simple activities; hiking on his property, observing the many types of trees and shrubs and collecting rock samples of any mineral. His interest in photography has given us many lovely pictures of family gatherings and familiar scenes. He loved reading and was always a member of the local library.
Daniel was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart parish, Sydney.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Jesty, Glace Bay, Margaret Walker, Montreal; nephews Tom (Traci) and their children Madeleine and Liam, all of London, Ont., Kevin, Glace Bay, Dave (Susan) and their children Sarah and Alyson, all of Calgary.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Cameron Jesty; his older brother, Peter and a brother in infancy.
Funeral mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Sydney on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 with Rev. Anthony O’Connor officiating.
Donations in Daniel’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stoke Foundation or a charity of choice.
