1942 - 2010 - Adélard Boudreau of Pointe-du-Chêne passed away at the Moncton Hospital on April 30th, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Adélard was adored by his wife of 43 years, Frances (Prosser) and their three children Sean (Michelle Arseneau), Stittsville; Stacey (Peter McCue), Grand Falls; and Jordan (Jenny Mitchell), Riverview. He is survived by six sisters: Gabrielle (Lucien Roy), Petit Rocher; Lorraine (Léandre Guerette), Beresford; Rose-Marie (Florent Godin) Bertrand; Florence (Charles Arseneau) Laval; Jasmine (Robert St. Pierre) St. Hubert; Claudette (Charles Levesque) Beresford. He is survived by four brothers: Normand (Lucienne Labbe) Hamilton; Edgar (Noëlla Roy) Dauversière; Jean-Claude (Monique Cormier) Dauversière; and Jean-Yves (Diane Hébert) Dunlop. His grandchildren Connor and Caleb Boudreau and Kathryn and Aidan McCue will miss their beloved grand-père. Adélard is survived by four sister-in-laws: Elaine Mills (John Carter) Moncton; Margery Prosser (Gerry Alward) Havelock; Lorraine Boudreau (Robertville) and Evelyn Boudreau (Hamilton). He is also survived by brother-in-law Delbert Prosser (Rex Walker) Moncton; special uncle Gerry Mitchell (Ramona) Moncton; and 28 nieces and nephews. Adélard was born in Alcida, NB. He attended Sacred Heart College, Bathurst. He graduated from the School of Medical Technology at the Provincial Laboratory in Saint John. He worked at the Hotel Dieu Hospital, Campbellton, the Provincial Laboratory, Saint John, and finished his career at the Microbiology Laboratory at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Adélard had many athletic talents and interests - He coached hockey and speedskating. He ran marathons - including the Boston Marathon, Montreal Marathon and the Canadian Marathon. He loved biking and biked across Canada. He hiked the Dobson Trail, Fundy Footpath, Mount Carleton and the International Appalachian Trail. Adélard will be remembered with love and laughter by his many friends as a kind, generous, and gentle man who lived life to the fullest everyday.
Visitation at Frenette's Funeral Home, 396 Main Street, Shediac, N.B. (506)532-3297) on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of departure. Funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 11 St. Andrew's Street, Pointe-du-Chêne, N.B. on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Adélard's ashes will be buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Petitcodiac and will be scattered along the Nigadoo River at his boyhood home in Dauversière.
