Lombard, Jean Gretchen - 90, of Medford, Kings County, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2010 at home in the loving care of her family. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Sidney and Daisy (Publicover) DeWolfe. She resided in Medford for over 70 years and was known to many in the community, especially the children as "Gram". Jean was full of love, laughter and friendship for anyone who came to know her. She was a beautiful cook and enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, reading, knitting and spending time at her cottage in Medford Beach, where she would enjoy the tides, gardens, get-togethers and peace and quiet. She was well known and famous for her hospitality. Like footprints in the sand at Medford Beach, she left footprints on our hearts that will last forever. She was a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Canning, where she openly lived and shared her faith and was a member of the Canning Catholic Council. She was an active member of the Medford Women's Institute and treasured the friendships she made over her many years in the community. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, homemaker and friend, who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by daughters, Judy, Medford; Ellen Hill, Canning and Nancy (Fred) Pemberton, Windsor; sons, Bill (Barb), Medford, Joe, Canard and Richard (Mary-Jane), Wolfville; a sister, Nancy "Nan" DeWolfe, Kentville; 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William; a daughter, Sheila; daughters-in-law, Marœska and Donna Lombard; a brother, John DeWolfe; a sister, Betty Jolly and an infant sister, Maude. Visitation was held from 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010 with prayers held at 8:00 p.m. both in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 in the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Larry Pitcher officiating. Burial took place in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville. A reception followed in the church hall. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses - Home Care or St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church. The family wish to express deep gratitude for the care provided by the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses - Home Support. Also, a sincere thank you to Dr. Don Seaman and Leslie Borden for their care and concern. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
