It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and sister, Daisy Hilda Bennett on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Northside General Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer and just a few short hours before the birth of her first great-grandchild.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary Jane (Osborne) Oxford.
Daisy was a member of the North Sydney Senior Citizens & Pensioners Club.
She was a wonderful mother to her children, Judy (Garry) Harding, Gwendolyn Bennett, Debra (Andrea) Cossaro, all of Winnipeg, and Floyd (Nancy) Bennett, North Sydney; her grandchildren, James, Robbie, Kristi (Geremiah), Blair, Floyd Jr., Nick; and one great-grandchild, Jensson Gerald Geldart; her two sisters, Marie (Dan) Cavanaugh, North Sydney, Dorothy Winters, Vancouver; two brothers, Raymond Oxford, North Sydney, and Melvin (Debbie) Oxford, London, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Teresa Oxford, son-in-law, Gerald Doyle and six other sisters and brothers in infancy.
There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service for Daisy will be held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home Chapel, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, day and time to be announced. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
