HICKEY, Bernard (Barney) Francis
On April 29, 2010, Barney Hickey of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Nova Scotia, Barney came to Alberta after serving in the Navy. He retired from a career as an engineer on the railroad and in industry. Barney is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen; son, Tom (Anita); daughter, Donna (Dave) Belley; two granddaughters, Lindsay and Jessica; sisters, Marguerite McKenzie of Amherst, NS and Cecelia Hickey of Charlottetown, PEI; along with several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, James and Elizabeth; his brother, Joseph; five sisters, Joan, Ann, Theresa Creed, Stella White, and Mary Head. Barney lived a full and happy life and brought happiness to his family.
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, May 4 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 11811 - 96 Street, Edmonton, AB. Reverend Frank Stempfle officiating with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
