Allister Murdock MacInnis, 85, died at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital on May 3, 2010.
Allister was born at his home in Breton Cove on October 9, 1924 to the late Murdock John and Annie (MacDermid). Allister operated the MacInnis Fur Farm for 62 years, retiring at the age of 83. He also fished lobster on his own vessel for many years. He was the treasurer and caretaker of the MacDonald Memorial Cemetery, Breton Cove, an Elder of St. Ann's Bay United Church as well as a life member of the North Shore District Fire Department, and a lifelong member of the Nova Scotia Mink Breeders Assoc. He was renowned as the family historian and enjoyed uncovering the connections between many families.
Allister is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna (Carmichael); his daughter, Karen (Gordon Boutilier); sons, David (Debra) and Allan (Cheryl); his six grandchildren, Emerald, Allister, Ashlie, Devin, Max and Nicholass; his one great-grandson, Finley; his sister, Ethel Bain; brothers-in-law, AJ and Norman Carmichael.
Allister was predeceased by his parents; brothers, John and Donald; sisters, Catherine, Christine and Mary.
Allister was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A friend to all, Allister was dearly loved.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 between 7-9 p.m. and Friday, May 7, 2010 between 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Ann's Bay United Church. Funeral to be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 also at St. Ann's Bay United Church, officiated by Rev. David Luker; burial to follow at MacDonald Memorial Cemetery, Breton Cove.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Shore & District Fire Truck Fund, or St. Ann's Bay United Church Building Fund.
