Ida Mowery February 5, 1915 - April 28, 2010
Ida (Pilling) Mowery left this earth to rejoin her beloved husband James Mowery. She passed away in Melfort, SK on April 28th at the age of 95. Ida is survived and dearly missed by her three sons Arthur "Jim" (Iva) of Williams Lake, BC, Glenn "Bud" (Elsie) of Saskatoon and Keith (Karen) of Weldon. Also cherishing her memory are her six grandchildren; James Mowery, Glenda Winger, Bill Mowery, Denyce Sawchuk, Marla Yeadon and Kyla Taylor and her 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 4 siblings; Edna, Clara, George and Frank. She was predeceased by her husband James "Jim" Mowery, her parents Albert and Clara Pilling, eleven siblings, granddaughter Venita and great-grandaughter Emily. Ida was born in Lancashire England the eldest daughter of 16 children. Her family came to Canada in May 1928 and settled into the Glen Mary district, north of Kinistino. Gramma Ida was our rock and foundation. Gramma was very practical, she knew how to pinch a penny and make the most out of the $3 her and Grampa started their marriage with. Gramma loved to play games, cards and her organ. She was often playing a hymn on the organ whenever we would drop in to say hi. She loved her garden and flowers; she had rose bushes, sweat peas and peonies throughout her yard. She also spent many hours making Teddy Bears which she would dress to children's nursery rhymes. She was also a fantastic knitter and crotchetier. She loved each of us dearly and was proud of us and all we have accomplished. She has a special place in all of our hearts and we will love and cherish her memory forever.Gramma and Grampa shared a special love that resulted in 73 years of marriage. They held hands every night as they went to sleep and danced together for as long as they were able. Their love and respect for each other have been an inspiration for all of us. After losing Grampa three months ago, Gramma spoke often of how she missed him and was longing for them to be together again. We are sure they are holding hands and dancing in heaven.
What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
A memorial service for Ida and Jim will be held in the summer of 2010. If friends so desire memorial donations can be directed to the Salvation Army or to the Weldon Country Villa. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fedusiak Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, of Melfort. (752-3838)
