RAMSAY, Eulah Melissa - 93, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born June 2, 1916, in Manganese Mines, she was the eldest daughter of the late Crosby and Maude (Nelson) Hoare. Eulah was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother who also worked many years, starting at The Truro News Office, Goodmans and AJ Walker & Son, for 15 years prior to her retirement. After retiring, she continued her role of helping others and volunteered at Colchester Regional Hospital and also served on various committees. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bible Hill Garden Club, Bible Hill Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was honoured in 2006 for 50 years of voluntary service to the Village of Bible Hill. A ferocious fan of Toronto Maple Leafs, she loved watching hockey. She also enjoyed curling, golf and harness racing. In her later years, she developed a liking for Nascar. As a music lover, she sang with the First Baptist Church Choir for many years, enjoyed dances at the Legion and playing piano. Her all time favourite past time would be sitting beside a brook with a fishing pole in her hand. Eulah was full of life, living by her motto...live, laugh, love. Blessed with a great wit, and compassion for all, she regularly took in people that were not well or alone, to live in her home. There are few who knew her that wouldn't have a grand story to tell. She lived through many losses, with endurance, especially with the passing of Aub, the love of her life, but had strength for all of us...an amazing, strong will. Eulah is survived by her son, Richard "Rick" (Linda) Ramsay, Lantz; daughter, Sandra (Russell) McCallum, Bible Hill; sister, Helen Taggart, Truro; grandchildren, Lisa Hartlen, Pleasant Valley; Lori MacKenzie, Bible Hill; Darin Ramsay, Halifax; Cheryl (Ted) Oloriz, Calgary; David Ramsay, Cambridge, Ontario; great grandchildren, Cash, Charlize, Taryn, Alexis, Colby, Kristen, Julia and one on the way; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey (1992); sons, David (1981), Herbie in infancy; grandson, Michael Ramsay; brother, Graham Hoare; sister, Dorothy Holt. Eulah's family would like to thank the nurses of Floor 4 South, Colchester Regional Hospital, and Dr. Wanda Brown for keeping her so vibrant and well in her later years. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Eulah's memory to a charity of choice are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Eulah's family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, May 9, 2010, in First Baptist Church, 759 Prince Street, Truro, Reverend John Tonks officiating. Interment in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. Reception will follow in Bible Hill Fire Hall. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting the "Guest Book" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
