Allison passed away peacefully at her home in Redding, California surrounded by loved ones, after a long illness. She has gone to be with the Lord. Allison was born in St. John's, Newfoundland to William and Alice (Rogers) Callahan, and is predeceased by her parents and stepfather Michael J. Downey as well as siblings Edward, Frederick, Kevin and Roseann. Mourning Allison are her three daughters, Caroline (Darin Eastburn), Kelly and Sara (Jon VanFossan), siblings William R. Callahan (Daphne) and James G. Callahan (Linda), grandchildren Brekke (Mark), Colin, Bridget, Erin, Liam, Owen and Isabel, her former spouse, Robert Mallory, step-siblings Christine Griffin, Theresa Smith, Marjorie Moroney, Bernard and Gladys Downey and dear aunt Loretta Rogers. Allison graduated from St. Clare's Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in St. John's and studied thoracic nursing at the Aberhart Memorial (Tuberculosis) Hospital in Alberta, returning to participate in the defeat of the scourge of TB in her home Province. As a Registered Nurse, she worked in both Canada and the U.S. as a dedicated professional, including the timber industry as an Industrial Nurse, Safety Officer and Senior Administrator at a time when women in the field were rare. Allison came to Redding in 1960 and remained in California for the rest of her life. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed. Allison has been cremated at her request and will be inurned with her mother and sister at Mt. Patricia Cemetery in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, always her spiritual home. A celebration of her life will be held at the family home in Redding, and a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Anderson, CA.
