The death of Ellen Chipman of the Kennebec Manor Nursing Home, formerly of Greenwood Lane, occurred on Friday, May 7, 2010. Born 1916 in Stratford On Avon, England she was the daughter of the late Mildred (Day) Howell.
Ellen worked in the Kitchen at the Saint John Airport for many years; she was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion # 68 Ladies Auxiliary; L.O.B.A. Edith Cavelle Lodge 972, Pythian Sisters, All Saints Church Choir, All Saints Church Ladies Guild, a member of All Saints Anglican Church since 1950, and she was an avid bowler. She is survived by her loving children Eileen Hannah (Joseph) of Saint John, Philip Chipman (Linda) of Darlings Island and Gloria McLennan of Cambridge Narrows; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; brother Ernest Day of Saint John. She was predeceased by her mother Mildred, step father John Day; husband Wilfred Chipman; step son Douglas Chipman and step daughter Marion Chipman. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Saturday, May 8, 2010 and Sunday, May 9, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from All Saints Church Upper Loch Lomond on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
