It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wally Lewis on Sunday, May 3, 2009.
Born in Whitney Pier, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Launay) Lewis.
Wally worked for Sylvania Light and Pole, Toronto for his entire working life and returned to Cape Breton after his retirement. His interests were playing darts and tarabish, but his greatest interest was spending time with his buddy Tommy.
Walter is survived by Sharon Hodder, the love of his life; special stepson, Tommy and stepdaughter, Karen; brother, Albert (Shirley) Lewis; stepbrothers, Jim, Steve and Nick, all of Ontario, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Thelma and Judy, brothers, Eddy, Robert, and Bill.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday May 8 at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Interment to follow in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
