BARTON JAMES CRAIG

Barton James Craig was born on September 28, 1945 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He was the oldest son of Mae and John Craig of Moose Jaw. Bart attended school in Moose Jaw. After leaving high school Bart joined the military from 1964-1989. His 25-year military career saw him and his family make several moves. Bart married the love of his life, Ella Parkin in Okla, Saskatchewan on November 23, 1968. From this union came five children: Christine, Kerry, Shauna, Karen and Jack who have already provided eight grandchildren. Bart, Ella and the three youngest children moved from Moose Jaw to Okla to finally settle down in the home they planned for retirement. After retirement from the military Bart drove truck for Sask. Wheat Pool and Staden Thompson Oilfield Services as well as keeping busy with several other odd jobs throughout the years. Bart could always be found either working on his yard or by his firepit ready to visit. Bart will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends around the world. Memorial service was held on Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 a.m.. at the Okla Community Hall, with Terry Tompkins officiating. Eulogists were Jack Craig and Christine Dutnall; memorial book attendants, granddaughters, Sheena Strand and Sara Strand; organist, Sandy Siddons. The congregational hymn was “Amazing Grace”; the reading, Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8. Honourary pallbearers were Dennis Lindquist, Art Thompson, Dean Platzke, Sheldon Traves, Ed Parkin and Kevin Parkin. Interment will be at a later date with Tompkins Funeral Home in care of the arrangements. Lunch was served in the Okla Hall following the service.
