It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital.
Ann Marie of Englishtown and formerly of Inlet Shore Road, Baddeck, died peacefully on May 7, 2010, surrounded by loving family and friends.
Born in North Sydney, Oct. 28, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Chandler and Nellie (Munroe) Fortune.
Growing up she was employed at Stones Drug Store, then after married. She was employed part-time with Canada Post Englishtown for several years. She was a member of St. Marks Presbyterian Church, Englishtown. She enjoyed cooking and always helped out with affairs in the community before cancer struck in 2006.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Wilfred Neil Horton; son, William (Ronnie), Big Harbour; daughter, Marion (Ivan), Bay St. Lawrence; three wonderful grandchildren, Michael, Englishtown/Alberta, Jamie Marie, Big Harbour, Alicia Rose, Bay St. Lawrence; stepgrandchildren, Michael, Mitchell, Tarbot; brother, George (Linda), Baddeck Inlet; two nephews, Stephan, David; and one niece Keshia.
She was predeceased by her parents, Chandler and Nellie Fortune, brother, Max Fortune, uncles, Wilfred Fortune and Dave Munroe, aunts, Georgie MacRae, Loretta Kangas and Irene Fortune.
Visitation will take place Monday, May 10 at St. Marks Church, Englishtown, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place May 11 at St. Marks Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lloyd Murdock officiating. Burial to follow in Bay View Memorial Cemetery, Englishtown, N.S.
