The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Monday, May 10, 2010, of Harry George Gillis of Summerside and formerly of Ellerslie, aged 83 years. Harry was born on Jan. 24, 1927, in Ellerslie to his late parents Harold and Elsie (nee Thompson) Gillis. Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Williams) Gillis and loving father of Sandra (Chris) Taweel, Michael (Sandy), Shelley (Paul) Kelly, all of Halifax, N.S., and Kimberley (Raymond) Culleton of Northam. Also lovingly remembered by his 10 grandchildren. Besides his parents, Harry was predeceased by his sisters Ruth (Melvin) Hutchinson and Jeanetta Ogden. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Wednesday, May 12, for funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Interment to take place at Tyne Valley United Church Cemetery. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Harry's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
