Edgar, with his family at his side, passed away at age 90 at Extendicare in Moose Jaw on Wednesday, May 12th,, 2010. Edgar was the beloved husband of Laurianne for over 65 years, the loving father of Richard (Evelynn), Martin (Gay), Adrien (Lori), and Leonard (Tammy), and the cherished grandfather of Tara, Danielle, Janelle, Tristan, Samantha, Benita and Marc. He will be missed by his brothers Louis (Yvette), and Olivier (Pauline), sisters Diane Yohemas (Ed), and Hélène Seager (David), brothers-in-law Gerry Wirges and Nœl Blanchette (Jeannine), sisters-in-law Marilyne, Dolores, Eleanor Christie, Claire Blanchette and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by infant son Lucien, infant grandson Micheal, parents Émile and Blandine Gaucher, sisters Claire Wirges and Sr. Eveline Gaucher, brothers Alix, Lucien, Gilbert, Lionel, Denis, sister-in-law Rose-Aimé (Alex McGregor), and brother-in-law Conrad Blanchette. Edgar was born on the family homestead near Coderre, SK, on Oct. 16th, 1919 to Émile and Blandine Gaucher, the eldest of twelve children. He grew up attending the Croquest School near Coderre and in 1944 married the love of his life Laurianne Blanchette. After serving in the RCAF for three years, the young couple moved to Trewdale, SK where they ran the store, bought grain and soon started their family. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1956 where Edgar worked with Canada Post until his retirement in 1980. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, attending with his family throughout his entire time in Moose Jaw, and being very involved with the Knights of Columbus. He loved to play cards or dance, but mostly enjoyed time spent with family and friends. For those so wishing, donations in memory of Edgar can be made to The Saskatchewan Lung Association or St. Joseph's Church. A prayer service will be held at PARKVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 474 Hochelaga St. W., Moose Jaw on Sunday, MAY 16th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 17th, 2010 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church 1064-3rd Ave NW, Moose Jaw, with Father Neil Osiowy officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
