Surrounded by her loving family, Dorina Mary Owen Gaillard passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 19, 2010 after a courageous battle with ALS. Born August of 1936 in Newcastle, NB to the late Fidele and Adele (Robichaud) Martin. Dorina worked for the Canada Post for many years and for Zellers. She was active in bowling with the seniors and the Thursday morning league. Dorina was a true artist, painter, writer and poet she wrote numerous poems, family history and three novels that were unpublished. Having built two of her homes, she was the proud designer. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid Bingo player. Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Dorina is survived by her husband Norman Gaillard of Quispamsis; her five sons David Owen (Darlene) of Quispamsis, Charles Owen (Kim), Peter Owen (Irene) both of Saint John, Michael Owen (Brenda), and Paul Owen (Janet) both of Hampton and one daughter Angela Owen (Joseph) of Saint John; two brothers Lionel (Lois) and Peter (Connie) and sisters Elizabeth Boulter of Saint John and Lillian Barton of Alberta; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides her parents Dorina was predeceased her first husband David A. Owen;grandson David Joseph Owen great-grandson Lucas Owen, one sister Henrietta Murphy and daughter-in-law Patricia Owen.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitation on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A private family graveside service will be held in Ripples, NB at a later date.
