The passing of Ialeen Jeanette Rushton formerly of Bird Avenue, Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Olis Rushton occurred on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB. Ialeen was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 15, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Pond) Stephen. She lived in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania before moving to her mother's family home in Ludlow. When her mother re-married she moved to McAdam where she grew up and married Olis Rushton. Together they lived in Fredericton, Caribou, Maine, and several other Massachusetts communities until they retired in Fredericton. She enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing in church choirs in Fredericton, Caribou and Boston. She worked at several interesting jobs and was a loving homemaker. Ialeen enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, painting, and reading. She travelled the world thru her books. She was a member of the Nashwaaksis United Church and the United Church Woman. Ialeen is survived by her son, Avard Rushton (Lois) of Beverly, MA; seven grandsons, Jeff, Neil (Barbara), Dave and Matthew (Cheryl) all of Fredericton, NB, Chris (Kristen) and Todd (Jenn) both of Beverly, MA and Derek (Gina) of Marblehead, MA; ten great grandchildren, Stephanie, Scott, Nicholas, Alex, Zach, Ryan, Jeremy, Lucy, Kyle and Ty; sister, Evelyn Currie of Fredericton, NB; sister-in-law, Peggy Smith and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Ialeen was predeceased by her son, Garth (Joan); sister, Jessie Bickford (Charles); brother, Albert Smith and bother-in-law, Robert Currie.
Although there will be no visitation by request. A private family graveside service will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery, followed by a public Memorial Service at Nashwaaksis United Church on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 11 am with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating, a reception will follow service at the church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB.
