It is with deep sadness and sorrow the we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Dorothy May Marshall, 76, who passed away Saturday morning, May 9, 2009, at home, surrounded by her loving husband, children, siblings and friends.
Born in Barra Head, (Chapel Island) she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Ann (Francis) Paul.
She was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni. A school teacher by profession she taught children in Eskasoni for the past 26 years. She also served on the Band Council for one term.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Michael S.; one son, Marshall L.; two daughters, Mary Ann (Reginald), Mary Pauline (Peter). Also surviving are seven brothers, Michael A. (Betty), Colin, Peter, Michael J., Joe Mike (Grace), Douglas and Andrew Jr.; one sister, Mary Ann (Steve) and eight grandchildren, Marshall Jr., Kaylynne, Nora, Timothy, Mary Louise, D.J., Jeremiah and Chelsea; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Sarah, Louie and baby D.J.
Dorothy was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Louise Simon, Mary Agnes Marshall, Mary Rose Cabot, Mary Ellen Paul, Annie Catherine Googoo, Mary Rose Paul, one brother, James Paul, two grandchildren, R.J Poulette and Donelda Googoo.
Visitation for the late Dorothy May Marshall will take place after 7 p.m. Monday May 11 at the Gabriel Center, Eskasoni. A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Eskasoni, with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery, Eskasoni.
