It is with great sadness that we, the family of Diane MacEachern, announce her sudden passing on her birthday, Thursday, May 27, 2010, at the New Waterford Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Diane was a member of the former St. Joseph's Church, New Victoria and currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. She was a devoted wife to Ray and mother of her six children. Diane was an out-going person who enjoyed playing bingo. Her greatest passion,however, was raising her children and being heavily involved in their daily activities.
Born in New Waterford, Diane is a daughter of Rebecca (Laffin) Tighe, New Victoria, and the late Jackie Tighe.
Diane is survived by her husband of 26 years, Raymond; six children, Ray Jr. (Nicole), Peter (Tanya), Adam, Nathan, Brittany and Katelynn; one grandchild, Jesse, all of New Waterford; mother, Rebecca Tighe, New Victoria; sister, Donna; brothers, Paddy (Annette), Terry, Tommy, Peter, Wayne (Selina), all of New Victoria, Jackie (Karen), New Waterford; father and mother-in-law, Wilfred and Agnes MacEachern, New Waterford; brother-in-law, Wilfred (Phyllis) MacEachern, Mira; several nieces and nephews.
Diane was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa, in infancy, father, Jackie Tighe and brother, Chrissy Tighe.
There will be no visitation by her request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration for Diane will be held Monday, May 31 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. A private family burial will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 3236 Plummer Ave., New Waterford.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Autism Society of Cape Breton or a charity of choice.
