MRS. MARY WARKENTIN
Decemeber 29, 1920 – May 2, 2009
Mary Warkentin passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Herb Bassett Nursing Home at the age of 88 years. A private family graveside service will be held. Mary Warkentin was a loving gracious, gentle, generous and kind woman. She leaves to mourn her 3 daughters Mrs. Kathy Walls of Victoria, BC (Wendy, Sarah and 5 great-grandchildren), Sheila (George) Balan of Prince Albert (Garrett, Allan, Warren and Donna and 4 great-grandchildren), Isabel (Kam) Fard of Calgary (Cameron and Shereen and 2 great-grandchildren). She is also survived by her sister Isabel in Scotland. She was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1987; her parents; her brothers William, John, Robert, Donald, George, Angus, Alexander and Kenneth all of Scotland. Mary was born in Scotland in 1920 to William and Catherine Johnstone. She married Peter, an army man, in 1943 and came to Canada as a war bride, with a little girl Kathy & one on the way Sheila. They homesteaded in Christopher Lake, then moved to Prince Albert where Mom began working at the Dairy as a bookkeeper for over 40 years. Even with many hardships Mom always maintained her sunny disposition and loving nature. She had a deep faith in Jesus Christ and lived her life accordingly. Mom you will be forever loved and deeply missed. Thank you so much to the Herb Bassett Nursing Home for your excellent care while mom was there.
