The family is saddened to announce the death of Alfred Joseph Lorette of Chatham, ON and formerly of Joggins, NS on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Chatham, at the age of 79. Born in Cape Pele, NB, he was a son of the late Leon and Eva (Donnelle) Lorette. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and a long-term member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br: 10 and later in Chatham. He was employed at Morris Home Tire Services, Jack Wood Trucking hauling steel, Amherst and later moved to Ontario and worked for Eaton Springs for over twenty years until his retirement. In his younger years Fred was an avid hockey player and enjoyed stockcar racing. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his son, Gary (Kathie) of Lower Sackville, NS; daughter in Law, Doris Lorette of Amherst; sisters, Vicki
(Burton) Wood and Laura (Lorne) Wolfe both Joggins, NS; grandchildren, Terry and Doris's children: Jordan, Jade and Jesse; as well as Gary and Kathie's
children: Jason, Andrew and Jenni; Terry and Gary's mother Freda (Bill) Gallagher of Amherst as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Terry (Moosie) in 2003; his wife, Williamera Lorette; as well as his brother in infancy. Fred's remains were transferred to Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Royal Canadian Legion Br: 10 tribute service at 7:00 p.m. and Parish Prayers. Funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Father David MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will take place at a later date in the Ragged Reef Cemetery. Family flowers only.
