Louise Marie (O’Brien) Baldwin, 58, died at home May 11, 2009.
Born in Sydney, Louise was a daughter of the late Bernie and Juliette (LeBlanc) O’Brien.
Surviving family members are Maureen Coleman of Oakville, Ont./Cape Breton, Sharon (George) Holbeche of Oakville, Ont., Germaine (Sandy) Marshall of Lunenburg, Kathleen (Tracey) Towill of Dartmouth; 11 nieces and nephews; 20 grandnieces and nephews; aunts, Germaine LeBlanc and Estelle McMaster of Sydney, N.S.; stepdaughter, Krista (Gerry) Widla and her son, Alexander Widla of Brampton, Ont.
Louise’s career spanned over 25 years in the banking industry. She met and made friends while living in Halifax, Montreal, Hong Kong, Oakville, Australia and back to her native Nova Scotia in Dartmouth.
Lou lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed family, friends, live music and a good glass of red wine. Lou’s enthusiasm and sense of comic relief would lighten numerous occasions. She was a loyal and generous friend to many and a favourite aunt to all her nieces and nephews.
Louise’s life had been made especially joyful in the past years by her many friends, work associates and neighbours. Particular thanks go out to Darlene Arseneau and Leesa Goode for their care and support. Our appreciation also goes to the personal care providers, palliative care and the V.O.N. Our thanks would not be complete without mentioning her trip to Newfoundland to meet Premier Williams, who went beyond expectations to make this visit the highlight of Lou’s final months.
Visitation will be held this evening (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. at Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where a memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 14 at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow in the funeral home reception centre.
