It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Murray White, 75, of Glace Bay. Murray passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Glace Bay Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, Murray was the son of the late Stanley and Edna (Daye) White.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force in his younger years. He was a fisherman for several years and loved being on the water. He was employed with Devco on the railway. Murray also worked at Sydney Steel for a period of time.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia (MacDonnell); daughter, Marianita (Bradley) Turner, Glace Bay; sons, Blair, Oshawa, Ont., Glenn (Arlene), Trenton, Ont., Chris (Diane), Halifax; sisters, Corrine White, Glace Bay, Elaine (Raymond) Sullivan, Glace Bay; six cherished grandchildren, Allison, Mark, Jonathan, Sean Turner, Megan, Emma White and one great-granddaughter, Brianna.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Melvin.
In honoring Murray's wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation will take place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St. Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Holy Family Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will be at St. Anne's Cemetery, Glace Bay. A reception will follow in the church basement.
