It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grampy and great grampy, Vaughn Hurley (Sonny) Gould, age 70, suddenly at home on Monday, May 11, 2009.

Born in Brookdale, NS, he was a son of the late Harold and Freda (Hurley) Gould.Vaughn was employed for 33 years at Dunlap's Hardware in Amherst, NS and then with A.J. Walker & Sons until his retirement. In his early years he was also employed at Robb's Engineering. In his career he traveled throughout New Brunswick and Nova Scotia where he made many "special friends" and business acquaintances. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, in early years a hockey player and tug of war team-mate.Vaughn is survived by his wife, Marlene (Shannon) and children Freda (Wendell Sears), Judith (Harry Lucci), Barbara (Rob Hansen), Rosemarie (Andy Kierstead), Janice, Vaughn Jr. (Annette) and Michael. He is also survived by grandchildren, Melissa, Robert, Sarah, Lisa, Jennifer, Samantha, Lucas, Logan, Leeam and Laiden. He is also survived by great grandsons, Keegan and Brayden. He will be long remembered by brothers, Howard (Pat), Murray (Hazel) and George (Sandra) and sisters, Reta, Elsie, Rose (Dana Cosman) and Vera (Carroll McInnis); mother-in-law, Nellie Shannon, aunts, Myra Gould and Elva McCullouch and by several nieces and nephews and extended family who will have special memories of uncle "Sonny". He was predeceased by a sister, Hilda Wilson, infant brother Robert Daniel, father-in-law, James Edward (Shinney) ShannonVaughn's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777) from where visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
