We regret to announce the passing of Erik Ahle, 79, of Big Bras d’Or, on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Denmark, N.B., he was the son of the late Richard and Jenny (Jensen) Ahle.
Erik worked at General Motors in Ontario for 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.
Erik is survived by his wife, Theresa (MacNeil) Ahle; his daughter, Kathy (Don) Wilson and his sons, Gregory (Catharine) Ahle and Ross (Tammy) Ahle, all of St. Catharines, Ont. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jeffery Wilson, Victoria, Rachel and Michael Ahle; sisters, Gretta White, Mill Creek and Esther (Elmer), St. Catharines; brothers Leif, Florence, Felix (Diane), Little Pond and Richard (Mary), St. Catharines.
Besides his parents, Erik was predeceased by a daughter, Constance Ann.
Visitation for Erik Ahle will be held in the J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, today (Thursday) May 14, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Richie Robinson officiating. The burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Big Bras d’Or.
Donations in Erik’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
