Lieu de décès : Iona, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 5 juin 2010

It is with a deep sense of loss that we announce the death of Catherine Louise Redden 54, Iona, who passed away suddenly on June 5, 2010.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late F.X. MacNeil (Sr.) and Catherine (Honey) MacNeil.
Louise was raised in Iona and received her early education at Rankin Memorial School. She attended St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, obtaining an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, and a Bachelor of Education Degree. She was employed as a teacher with the Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board until ill health brought about her departure from a profession that gave her a great sense of fulfillment.
Louise was proud of her Celtic heritage and was an accomplished piper with the former N.S. Highland Village Pipe Band. Throughout her life she continued to enjoy the music and culture that gave her roots in that part of Cape Breton.
Her enjoyment of good literature, music, sports, and politics made her a well rounded individual who could partake in any conversation, and whose kindness, sense of humour, and empathy for others were felt by all who knew her.
Her greatest love was for her family. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Joel 'Joey' Redden, who was her soul mate and best friend. Her children, Joel (Alicia) and Emily, who were her pride and joy. She took great satisfaction in their accomplishments and achievements. She is also survived by sisters, Sharon MacNeil, Iona and Marguerite (Ray) Souchereau, Halifax; brothers, Paul (Stacy), Jamesville, Pius (Coxheath) and F.X. (Gail), Northwest Arm. In addition Louise's loss is mourned by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. There will be visitation from 2 to 9 p.m. at St. Columba Parish Hall, Iona on Thursday June 10, 2010. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Columba Parish Church on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Louise's memory may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada or to a charity of one's choice.
