Effie Anne Shaw, 86, Indian Brook, Victoria County entered eternal rest at Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, on May 13, 2009.
Born in West Tarbot, she was the daughter of the late Dan W. and Margaret Morrison MacLeod. She was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Indian Brook, where, for many years she served as an elder, choir member and on board of managers. A very active and community-oriented lady, she taught Sunday school as well as sewing. She also served in the MacLeod AMS North River, North Shore Home and Hospital Group, North Shore Senior Citizens Club. With deep roots and passion for her Celtic heritage, she greatly enjoyed being part of the Gaelic Study Group of Baddeck.
Surviving is her son, Dennis, at home; foster daughter, Joan MacQueen, Brantford, Ont.; special nephew, Edward, New Brunswick; grandchildren, Morris and Marilyn, Ontario; great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Nicole and Miranda; several niece and nephews.
Predeceased by husband, John, sisters, Christy Stevenson, Margaret Campbell and Dolena Smith.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, May 17. Funeral 2 p.m. Monday, May 18 at MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck, with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating.
Family floral pieces only, memorials may be made to Victoria County Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation or charity of choice. Burial in Ocean View Cemetery, Birch Plain.
