It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Cecil Kosick of Glace Bay. Cecil passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the An Cala unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John and Antonina (Drabek) Kosick and was for the greater part of his life, a resident of the town.
Cecil worked as a carpenter most of his life, he was employed in the construction industry for many years and also with AECL at the heavy water plant, from where he retired due to health reasons.
He was a keen bowler and a member of teams in Glace Bay, Sydney and North Sydney. He loved gardening, planting trees and was generous of his time and expertise in all things. Cecil was a lifelong and ethical outdoorsman and a past president of the Marconi Wildlife Association where he successfully promoted the stocking of No. 20 dam off Beacon Street, with trout for our seniors and youngsters in Glace Bay and was also deeply involved in making and installing nesting boxes for wildfowl around the immediate area.
Above all Cecil's most enjoyable times were those spent with his loving family, especially time spent with his granddaughters, Deanne and Chelsey and grandson, Brandon.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Barbara (Gouthro) Kosick; daughter, Charlene (Fred), Glace Bay, granddaughter, Deanne and her fiancé Shawn, Fort St. John, B.C.; daughter, Catherine (Al), grandson, Brandon and granddaughter, Chelsey, all of Halifax; sons, Stephen and Darren, both of Calgary; brothers, Stephen, Fred, Alex, all of Glace Bay; sisters, Helen, Glace Bay, and Olga, Ontario.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by a son, Richard (197

A funeral mass will be celebrated 1 p.m., Saturday at St. Anthony's Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Bill Rankin officiating. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church hall, all are welcome.
