It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Vanessa Virginia Jessome, 24, a resident of Gannon Road, on Tuesday May 12, 2009, at her home.
Born in North Sydney, she was a daughter of Thomas Kevin Jessome, and Veronica B. Mortensen.
Vanessa was interested in helping others and making a difference. She attended the Nova Scotia Community College, Marconi Campus, and was working toward her certificate on vocational rehab for the mentally challenged.
Besides her father, Vanessa is survived by her siblings, Aaron, Deborah, Demetrius, Joshua, Lisa, Topper and Valerie. Vanessa will be greatly missed by her many friends and large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and her partner, Jeff Bonnar.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Walter and Mary Jessome, Point Aconi and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Mortensen.
A dedicated friend to many, her smile and beautiful spirit will be greatly missed.
We would like to thank the families of the kidney donors for their generous ‘gifts’ of 12 years of life. Also for the love and medical support of the various team members who cared for Vanessa over the years at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth II and the IWK. Also, the many individuals who drove Vanessa to dialysis and kept her company.
Visitation for Vanessa will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will take place 10 a.m. Monday, from St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation.
